Initially started from a dozen Indonesian-Americans in the Washington DC area, raising their concern on balancing the horizontal achievement and vertical relationship of their future generation. Then, on December 21st, 1993, IMAAM, Indonesian Muslim Association in America, was established and registered in the state of Maryland as a Religious Non-Profit Organization. The principles set by our founders reflect to the breath of our corporate values. We strive to provide a house of worship, not only to gain spiritual nourishment but also to empower oneself to achieve his/her goals and dreams.
Our programs are tailored to create a holistic family-friendly program through aone stop-shopping approach. . We believe that a strong principle of each family member will reflect immediately to society values. As a result, we hope that these smallest groups in the society will impact the great Nation effectively.
We, IMAAM; believe that our integrity as the Indonesian-American Muslim as part of the greatest Nation in the world could play a role to other nations as The Agent of Peace through our holistic program Spiritual Nourishment and Social Engagement.
"And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds.(Nobel Quran: 21:107)"
And we, IMAAM; reflect our action is solely aiming to gain strong relationship as the best servant to almighty God, the Creator of the universe.
"And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me".(Noble Quran: 51 : 56)
We respect all attendees and members regardless of their sex, ethnicity, gender, age, and group of interest.
"O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise (each other). Verily the most honored of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things).." (Noble Quran: 49:13)
IMAAM is set as a train that would carry its passengers for a long journey safely by incorporating social engagement within, gaining individual success and last but not least, achieve ultimate goals for all family members.
"Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire."(Noble Quran: 2 :201)
